As a bride and groom – your wedding photographer will be the person with you two the most that day. The most important thing you can do when shopping for a wedding photographer is make sure you vibe with the person who will be holding the camera. It would be devastating if you didn’t think of them as a friend.

This is the perfect way for the three of us to really connect, get to know each other, and get the awkward firsts out of the way. Your engagement session is also great practice for what the wedding day will look like and make for perfect save the dates!

Call me old fashion, but I love black and white photographs. They are absolutely classic and when that was one of Lauren and Tarell first requests in our initial meeting I knew they were my kind of clients. They felt it too once we all shared the same vision and couldn’t stop laughing! To say I am honored to be their wedding photographer in Wappingers Falls, NY this October is an UNDERSTATEMENT!

Your engagement photos should be sentimental to you as a couple. Because let’s be honest, how many times are you feel going to have couple portraits taken? As an engaged couple this is your time to SHINE, but lets make it meaningful.

During our initial meetings when you hire me as your wedding photographer, I ask questions such as

• What’s your typical date night like?
• Where are your favorite local places to go when it’s just the two of you?
• Are there any hobbies or activities you both enjoy doing?

Before any real brainstorming begins you have to ask the question, where do you want the engagement photos to be taken? So during our meeting I learned; Tarell loves walking around Vanderbilt Mansion, Hyde Park NY on his days off, and it just happens that one of their favorite date night locations is Goodnight Kenny, a local bar in Poughkeepsie, NY [If you go, get their espresso martini jello shots.]

Let me mention, that Vanderbilt Mansion is one of my favorite places to photograph here in the Hudson Valley, and I’ve been loving Goodnight Kenny since my friends took me there for my birthday and the decor vibe of Goodnight Kenny is very similar to the studio – so when Lauren & Tarell mentioned this to me it was like the stars literally aligned, we were meant to connect and create beautiful, classic, and timeless art that will fill their homes and always remind me of the time they promised forever to each other!

When you look back on your engagement photos, I want you to be able to relive the laughter, love, and magical butterfly feelings you were having the moment we captured the moment. I’ll give you a little inside scoop – the moments I capture are usually ridiculous prompts revolved around food – because who doesn’t love food?

Like I mentioned before, I want this to be an experience for you which means an activity of some sort will be involved. For Lauren and Tarell’s case, they played Jenga. You can clearly see who won after a very intense twenty minutes.

Gotta give it to Tarell, he was not a sore loser and went over to put their names on the message board. To me that’s the modern day carving your love initials into a tree. And of course, we could not wrap up the engagement session without getting a photo and drink with one of the greatest bartenders/managers, Ben!
